A Piece of Ground

Where do faculty and group leaders stay?

Either one of the four private ensuite rooms, or the self-contained apartment on the compound. Leaders are on site with the group but not sleeping in the dorm with them.

Every group has this problem. The faculty member, the chaperone or the trip leader needs to be where the students are, and also needs somewhere that is not where the students are.

There are four private rooms, each with air conditioning, a TV and its own bathroom. Between them they sleep nine. They are $75 a night for the room rather than per person, so two people sharing costs the same as one.

There is also a separate self-contained apartment on the compound. That is usually where trip leaders and faculty end up, particularly on longer stays, because it gives you a door that closes on the whole thing.

Everyone is still inside the same gated compound. You are two minutes from the dorm at two in the morning if you need to be.

One thing worth saying plainly, because agencies ask: there is no group-leader discount. We do not have one, and a room for a leader is charged like any other room.
