A Piece of Ground

Is there somewhere for a group to meet, teach or debrief?

Yes. The courtyard, the rooftop sundeck and the common areas are yours because we take one group at a time. There is no lecture theatre — this is a compound, not a conference centre — but there is space to gather everybody without booking a room or moving anyone on.

Academic and mission groups nearly always need the same thing at the end of a day: somewhere the whole group can sit together and talk about what just happened.

Because we host one group at a time, that space is not something you reserve. The courtyard, the rooftop sundeck and the common areas are simply yours for the week. Twenty-five people can be in one place without negotiating with other guests or being moved on at nine.

In practice groups use the courtyard for evening debriefs, the rooftop for anything that wants air, and the kitchen and common areas for the informal half of it, which is usually where the real conversation happens.

Be realistic about what this is. There is no projector screen on a wall, no tiered seating and no whiteboard. It is a hand-built compound with a courtyard and a roof. If your programme genuinely needs a teaching room with AV, say so before you book and we will tell you honestly whether it works.

WiFi runs throughout, which covers most of what a teaching group actually needs.
